I only accept new bookings within a certain service area, which will be displayed on littlezoomies.co.uk. Any bookings made for addresses outside of this service area will be declined.
Sometimes scheduling may permit me to accept one-off bookings or short blocks of pop-in visits/walks in places slightly outside of my normal service area. This is at my discretion and will depend on factors such as drive time, address accessibility and local traffic. Places of a greater distance may incur an additional travel fee.
I may need to change my service area from time to time, which unfortunately could mean that I need to discontinue recurring bookings within the old service area. As much notice as possible will be given in cases like this.
Meet & greet
A meet and greet is required before any dog walking or pet care service begins. This allows me to get to know you and your pet, discuss their routines & requirements and ensure we’re a good fit for each other. There’s no charge payable for meet & greets and they usually take around 30 minutes.
Please note that a meet & greet does not guarantee that your booking request will be accepted. As Little Zoomies is my private business, I reserve the right to choose who I provide services to. You are also under no obligation to book with Little Zoomies after a meet & greet has taken place.
I won’t agree to carry out services in properties where the environment poses a risk to my health and safety, or where I am not confident in the level of animal welfare in the home.
I may also decline new bookings/cancel upcoming bookings in cases where a pet parent makes me feel uncomfortable, or if comments are made which aren’t relevant to pet care and/or feel inappropriate, unkind or disrespectful.
Please note that you must have a service start date in mind for walks/pop-ins before booking a meet & greet.
How to pay
Payment is required in advance of your booking’s start date.
Bookings made via the online scheduler are payable by card at the point of booking.
Bookings across multiple dates and recurring fees for dog walking slots will be invoiced to you and payable via bank transfer.
Late payment of invoices may result in future services being declined.
Recurring bookings
Pet parents with recurring bookings will be invoiced on a regular schedule of their choosing - weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Payment must be made for services in advance and invoices are payable via bank transfer.
If you need to cancel/amend any prepaid bookings, if more than 48 hours’ notice is given, you will be refunded the amount paid for services you’re cancelling or have this amount credited against your next invoice. Cancellations made for services happening within 48 hours will still be chargeable.
By agreeing to recurring billing, your regular time slot is reserved and cannot be booked by others.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to stop or pause your recurring service. At least 7 days’ notice is appreciated.
If you skip a booking, your slot will be opened up on the Little Zoomies online calendar for other pet parents to book that day.
If you do not use your recurring time slot for 3 consecutive weeks, I may advertise the slot as available to other pet parents. Whilst I will do my best to accommodate you if you rebook in the future, I can’t guarantee that the same day or time will still be available once the slot has been released.
If more than 50% of your recurring walks are cancelled within a month, or there is a pattern of cancellations made which seem to take advantage of the free cancellation timeframe, your reserved slot may be released to others.
I may need to cancel recurring walk agreements due to changes in service area, scheduling or other factors where it’s no longer possible for me to work with your pets. I will do my best to give you as much notice as possible in these circumstances but can’t assist you with finding alternative pet care.
Deposits
For bookings of multiple pop-in visits in a block (e.g. holiday pet care), a deposit is required to secure your dates.
A deposit may also apply for blocks of walks scheduled more than 2 weeks in advance outside of a recurring billing arrangement.
All deposits paid are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.
Refunds
Refunds are not normally provided for missed services that fall outside the cancellation policy. Any refunds issued are at my discretion.
Refunds are arranged via bank transfer and will be processed within 3 working days. Please note that to receive a refund, you’ll need to provide your full name as it appears on your bank account, your bank account number and sort code. This information will only be used to arrange your refund and won’t be stored.
If you have a recurring service with Little Zoomies, I can apply a credit of equal value to your next bill if you prefer this to a bank transfer refund.
If for any reason you’re dissatisfied with the services provided, I welcome feedback and may waive the cancellation fee from any upcoming bookings you have scheduled. However, I will not provide refunds for services already carried out.
Pet parent cancellations
Walks or single pop-in visits cancelled with at least 48 hours' notice will not be charged. Cancellations made with less notice may be charged in full.
To cancel your booking, please send a message via WhatsApp to 07301 152 755.
If you are cancelling a series of pop-in visits or walks, any deposit paid to secure your booking will not be refundable. This is due to the dates being held for you, which often means that I’ve declined other opportunities.
Cancellations by Little Zoomies
If I need to cancel a service, I will provide as much notice as possible.
Please understand that I am self-employed and have no employees to call upon if I’m injured, unwell or can’t complete the agreed service for any reason. I would always encourage pet parents to have a backup option for pet care wherever possible.
Any prepaid fees for services I’ve cancelled will be refunded or credited against a future booking.
Bank holidays
Services usually carry on as normal. Pet parents will always be notified in advance if their booking is impacted by a bank holiday break.
If you don’t need your usual services on a bank holiday, please make this known as soon as possible.
There is no additional fee for bank holiday bookings.
No Little Zoomies services are available on 25th December, 26th December or 1st January.
Dog Walking Policies
Trial walks
For dogs starting walks with Little Zoomies, a trial solo walk is required before regular bookings begin.
For dogs joining group walks, an additional trial walk with another dog is required before they meet the rest of the group.
These trials help me to assess temperament, recall, walk style, behaviour around other dogs and reactivity to environmental triggers.
Group walks
For safety reasons, dogs must complete a trial walk with my own dog before joining a group.
If your dog is not already a Little Zoomies walker, they will also need a solo walk beforehand so I can understand their general walk style before adding another dog into the mix.
Dogs must have a suitable temperament for group environments and have no known history of aggression with other dogs.
Proven recall skills are needed for group slots other than secure field visits if you'd like your dog to be off lead.
If your dog indicates that they’re struggling with being a part of the group, I will recommend that they go for solo walks instead. I may decline future group walk bookings for dogs who I don’t feel are a good fit.
Multi-dog households
I will walk dogs from the same household in a small group (max. 3 small-medium breed) providing they usually walk together at the same time. After the first dog, additional dogs from the same household are charged at a reduced fee.
If dogs from the same household cannot walk together and each need an individual 30/60 minute walk, this will be charged at the normal solo dog walk rate rather than at the reduced additional dog fee.
Females in season
For the safety and comfort of all dogs, females in season cannot attend group walks.
Please notify me and ask to switch to a solo walk if your female dog comes into season.
Leads & walking gear
I may use my own leads, but please ensure that your dog has a harness or collar that fits them properly and cannot be slipped out of.
Please also ensure that your dog’s walking gear always has an ID tag attached with your details in case of emergencies.
If your dog is used to walking on a retractable lead, I will limit the use of these to areas where they can safely roam and will use a shorter lead (usually rope) in busy areas/near roads.
If your dog is nervous, reactive or has a known history of bolting, I would advise against retractable lead usage.
I will not use prong collars, shock collars or other equipment linked to aversive training methods on my walks. If these are the only collars you have but you’d still like a dog walk from Little Zoomies, you must permit me to use a suitable collar or harness from my own supply.
Off-lead exercise
Dogs will never be let loose on walks, unless their parent has requested off-lead exercise and the dog shows reliable recall. Please understand that off-lead exercise comes with extra risk
Off-lead exercise will be limited to quieter spaces away from roads. Dogs will be called back onto the lead if others approach or hazards are visible.
Dog swimming
Dogs may only be allowed access to water at the request of their pet parent. Swimming opportunities will be assessed based on safety, weather, water conditions, and the individual dog's confidence.
Dogs will be towel dried thoroughly if they’ve gotten wet, but in some cases it may not be possible to get them fully dry before they go home.
Ball games
Ball throwing and retrieval games may form a part of your dog’s walk if this is something they enjoy and they’re permitted to be off lead/on a long line lead in an open space.
Activities may be limited if they contribute to obsessive behaviours, resource guarding, over-arousal, or injury risk.
Sticks
Although some dogs enjoy picking up/carrying sticks, playtime with sticks is not actively encouraged due to injury risk.
Sticks will be confiscated from dogs looking to chew.
Dog training
I will aim to reinforce any reasonable training cues already used by pet parents and take steps to encourage nice lead walking with positive reinforcement.
However, please note that I am not qualified to provide professional dog training and this does not form part of any Little Zoomies services.
Reactive dogs
Details around dogs displaying reactivity towards people, dogs, vehicles, or other triggers must be disclosed before services begin so appropriate safety measures can be discussed.
If your dog has a bite history or has exhibited any form of aggression, this must be disclosed.
To minimise risk after previous injuries, I am no longer accepting recurring walk schedules for dogs who are overly reactive, pull heavily on the lead or dogs who display erratic/aggressive/otherwise potentially dangerous behaviour.
If your dog struggles with any of these behaviours, to better suit their needs I would recommend that you instead seek a trainer, behaviourist, or a dog walker who specialises in these areas.
Dogs in public
Whilst every effort is made to ensure safe social interactions, dogs may encounter unfamiliar dogs during walks.
Pet parents accept the inherent risks associated with these interactions.
Car travel
Little Zoomies currently operates from a car rather than a traditional dog walking van.
Dogs transported in the car will travel in secured pods, a harness with seatbelt, or other suitable safety restraints following UK guidelines. The car will always be suitably ventilated.
Dogs will never share a crate unless they are of a small-medium breed and from the same household.
Weather
Walks may be shortened, rescheduled, or replaced with a pop-in visit during extreme weather conditions to ensure the safety of your dog. These conditions include (but are not limited to) very high or low temperatures, ice/snow, excessively heavy rain, strong wind and storms.
If you would rather cancel your dog’s walk entirely, cancellations due to poor weather will not be chargeable.
Mud & cleanliness
Dogs may return home from walks wet or muddy depending on weather conditions.
Basic towel drying, a light brush and use of pet wipes will be provided where possible, but full grooming is not included in any Little Zoomies services.
Communication Policies
Contacting Amy
Pet parents are welcome to contact me via WhatsApp message regarding bookings and pet care.
My usual communication hours are Monday-Friday 8am-7:30pm. I will respond to weekend messages within these hours, unless you have a booking which falls on a Saturday/Sunday or you’re cancelling a Monday booking.
Responses to messages may be delayed whilst I’m caring for pets or driving. When actively working with animals, I will only respond to messages from the parents of pets I’m currently with.
Please don’t call me unless I’m with your pet and there’s an emergency which impacts them/your booking.
If changes are needed to the care which has been agreed, please send me a message before your booking starts with the updated information.
Queries can also be raised via email to amy@littlezoomies.co.uk, though replies may be slower.
In the unlikely event that a pet parent sends inappropriate or unkind messages to me, services may be cancelled with future bookings declined.
Pet reports
Unless you’ve asked otherwise, you’ll be sent a report after each pop-in visit or dog walk. This will include a brief summary of my time with your pet(s) and how they were, along with some photos.
Reports are usually sent via WhatsApp but can be emailed if requested. Although I try to send reports as soon as the appointment is finished, they may be delayed until the evening on busier days.
Social media
Photos and videos of pets may occasionally be shared on the Little Zoomies website & social media channels.
No factors will be included in photos/videos which could disclose your personal details or home address.
Consent will always be requested from pet parents before posting, and you may opt out of your pet appearing in future posts at any time by emailing amy@littlezoomies.co.uk.
Pet Parent Home Policies
Keys & House Access
Pet parents may provide a spare key, lockbox code, or other approved access method. All keys and access information will be stored securely and confidentially.
If you use a hidden/unsecured “safe place” for your key, please understand that I cannot accept liability for any loss or damage which may arise from the key being found by another party.
Where house alarms are active, instructions must be given to disable these appropriately in order for me to access your pet/their supplies.
If a key needs to be collected and returned for short-term bookings, a plan for this must be agreed before the booking’s start date.
If you’ve given me a spare key to your property but have stopped booking with Little Zoomies and haven’t made contact for 3 months, I will assume you no longer need services and return your key via letterbox or post.
If you need to take some time away but intend to rebook and don’t want your key back yet, please confirm via message or email and I’ll extend this timeframe to 6 months.
Cameras
I have no issue with doorbell cameras, or cameras being used inside your home for security purposes. However, all cameras must be disclosed before services begin. Hidden cameras or evidence of secret surveillance indicates a lack of trust and may result in termination of services.
Although you have the right to check cameras in your home whilst I’m carrying out services, please understand that pet care is my job and feeling watched does create an uncomfortable working environment for me.
I understand that pet parents with cameras may wish to watch out of concern or interest, but please refrain from making comments about footage of me, or messaging me to give live instructions to follow/additional tasks or speaking via the camera when I’m there.
If camera usage begins to make me feel uneasy, I may discontinue services in your home.
Cleaning
During pop-in visits and when collecting dogs for walks, I will clean reasonable pet-related accidents that might occur, or messes found upon arrival which may be a risk to their health/safety.
Approved cleaning supplies must be readily available for me to use in your home.
General cleaning, tidying and cleaning pre-existing household messes is not included within Little Zoomies services.
Any time spent cleaning will form part of your booking’s time slot.
Health & Safety Policies
Pet treats
Treats may be given during walks or visits unless pet parents request otherwise.
If your pet has any allergies, dietary restrictions, medical conditions or any other reason why they shouldn’t be given treats, please confirm this before your first Little Zoomies service.
For pets who may only have specific treats (e.g. on a grain free diet), approved treats will need to be provided by you.
Vaccinations
All dogs must be up to date with core vaccinations or have veterinary-approved alternatives. I may request to see vaccination records for dogs who wish to attend group walks.
Pet parents are also advised to ensure that preventative treatments are maintained for fleas, ticks and worms.
Insurance
I hold appropriate pet business insurance which covers the services I carry out.
However, owners remain responsible for any veterinary costs arising from pre-existing medical conditions or undisclosed pet behavioural issues.
Please ensure that you hold a pet insurance policy for each of your pets.
DBS check
I hold a clear DBS check certificate which can be seen upon request.
Veterinary treatment & injuries
Vet details must be supplied before a service begins. In the event of an emergency with your pet, I will attempt to contact you immediately. If necessary, veterinary treatment will be sought without delay.
Pet parents must authorise me to seek emergency veterinary care if required in the event of pet illness, injury, or other emergency. Any associated costs remain the responsibility of the pet parent.
Pet parents should provide at least one emergency contact who can be reached if they are unavailable. This person should have authority to make decisions regarding the pet's care if necessary.
Medication administration
Basic medication can be administered during pop-in visits where appropriately detailed instructions have been provided in writing and approved by a qualified vet.
All medication requirements must be discussed before services begin. I may decline administering medication if I feel it falls outside my experience or comfort level.
Phone usage on walks
I will carry my mobile phone on walks to use for emergencies, navigation, photo updates, communication and other business purposes.
Giving attention to pets in my care will remain the biggest priority and I will not take phone calls whilst actively walking dogs.
Lost dogs
In the unlikely event that your dog becomes lost, I will immediately attempt to contact you whilst locating them.
Relevant authorities, microchip databases, and emergency contacts may also be contacted where appropriate.
Please ensure that your dog is microchipped and wears an ID tag with your address and contact information.
